The Nova Woodturners' Guild is a group of about 60 people interested in the art and craft of woodturning.
Our skills range from beginner to professional.
Many members are also active in the Nova Scotia arts and crafts community and are members of the Nova Scotia Design Committee.
On January 15 1996, Maurice Gamblin sent out a letter inviting people to a meeting on January 22, 1996, at the Honda Training Center in Burnside.
At that meeting a steering committee was set up to begin the arrangements to create a woodturning club.
On April 22, 1996 we had our first meeting at the NS Community College in Halifax.
Meetings are currently held 10 times a year, from September through to June, presently at Lee Valley Tools, 100 Susie Lake Crescent, Halifax, NS B3S 1C7.
Typically meetings begin with a short 20 minute period for informal chat and returning/borrowing from our extensive library.
This is followed by a "show and tell" (or "show and ask"!) session and then a talk or demonstration on some aspect of woodturning.
Whether you are a seasoned turner or a total beginner, new members are always welcome. If you would like to join us,
or come along as a guest to a meeting to see what we have to offer.
Now that we meet during the open hours at Lee Valley, please enter through the front doors of the store.
Parking is in the lot in front of the store. We meet in the Seminar Room which is at the back,
right hand corner of the showroom as you enter.
Meetings start at 1PM and typically end at 3PM.
